| Change in October scheduled events |
[Oct. 3rd, 2004|04:12 pm] |
Due to some pressure from sources outside our Thursday night group the following changes will be taking place in October.
High School October Thursday the 7th Project Cure Service Night. Please call Chip with any questions. Permission slip required Is changed to BIBLE DRILL NIGHT in this event we will be giving prizes such as healthy carb free snacks to those who can find bible passages the fastest.
Thursday the 14th October Birthday Party/BBQ and white elephant gift exchange in the Fellowship hall at Church Is changed to PrayerAThon in this event we will be praying all night in an attempt to replicate the intense prayers that Jesus himself may have prayed. Towels for seeping blood will be provided.
Thursday the 21st State Fair $9.50 admission + $ for food and rides Is changed to "Classical Music as an evangelism tool" night. There are many ways that classical music or opera story-lines can be analyzed from a parable viewpoint. The words of "Ode to Joy" in Beethoven's Ninth, reaching out for brotherhood and hope, make an ideal starting point. So this Thursday is an appeal to use this as a "bridge strategy" Thursday the 28th Movie Night will not be changed but we are watching "The Cross and The Switchblade" and "Ben Hur"
In addition I am adding a Wednesday the 27th activity where we will go to downtown Tempe to the Hooters restaurant and read our bibles while we enjoy sandwiches.
(ha,ha,ha,ha)This disclaimer is to inform you that this posting is a joke and nothing is changing or being added. (ha,ha,ha,ha) |

| Response to a concerned parent |
[Aug. 18th, 2004|07:44 am] |
To Whom it May Concern (Anonymous) 2004-08-17 21:19 (link) Dear Chip, I have recently been turned to your livejournal and I have some concerns. My concerns lie with the picture you use. I do not view a picture of you with an anchor on your face a very good example for the youth of our church. Anchors are connected with sailors and pirates; two things that do not set moral examples. Chip, you are the leader of all of our youth; therefor you should set only righteous examples for them. I suggest you change the picture to something more appropriate. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I urge you to take my suggestion. A Concerned Parent (Reply to this) (Thread) Re: To Whom it May Concern 94758c4h5i6p 2004-08-18 07:42 (link) Hebrews 6 (NIV) 18God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. 19We have this hope as an ANCHOR for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (Reply to this) (Parent) And in addition there is only one (1) who is righteous. I am just like everyone else struggling to show Christ's love in as imperfectly a way as I can. My photo reminds me of an excellent church sponsored activity in which I participated so I will not be changing anything. If you need further assistance please contact the church office at 480-838-2424 and a staff member will be glad to help you. |
